Start out with characters (3 PCs) meeting at a crossroads with goblins coming from the fourth direction chasing a man.
Goblin Fight 1
Characters win, man thanks them and tells them that an orc king has taken over the entire region. Man leads PCs to a small town.
Any non-special-function NPC they talk to tells them of the orc and goblin raiding parties that have been coming down around the towns recently. After the first time hearing this, there are screams and orcs and goblins invading the town. a battle ensues, raising the PCs to level 3 and finishing. They have just enough time to be healed by a mage that rushes over before the Orc King clears the wall and fights the three of them.
When PCs win, mayor brings them to the basement of city hall and offers the PCs either 300 gold, 50 lbs of diamond (can be substituted as a stronger version of metal, increases the hit die by 1 level in whatever weapon it is used as metal in), a pair of jewelled daggers, six diamond-edged, oak-handled throwing axes, golden-handled, titanium-bladed longsword, a maplewood-handled scythe with an iron blade, a broadsword made of solid ivory or a golden-glowing longbow. While PCs pick prizes, a messenger runs in and tells the mayor that half-human, half-animals have been attacking a small town southeast of there and that the town needs help, if he can send down some able-bodied warriors. PCs must eventually wander over there.
PCs arrive in town (with blacksmith in shopping district) and anyone PCs talk to tells them that half-human, half-animals have been invading the town and there is a fortress to the north that they’ve been coming from.
